“To catalyze diversity in STEM by empowering Black and Brown students to navigate systemic barriers and persist in STEM careers.”
As educators, we realize there is a disproportionate representation and participation of Black and Brown students in STEM education and workforce. Our goal is to provide programs that will contribute to systemic change through student and faculty professional development and support.
However, STEM is much more than a clever acronym for many of our favorite subjects/fields. According to Pearson Accelerated, “at its core, STEM is a teaching philosophy that integrates all four disciplines together into a single, cross-disciplinary program which offers instruction in real-world (as opposed to purely academic) applications and teaching methods.”
